Mercedes CLC 220 - Full Paint Correction & Interior Detail

Our client brought his car to us with the following problems – Scratches, Swirls, Holograms and generally flat.
First we applied a good general purpose cleaner to the wheels and agitated it to remove all the stubborn road dirt and grime. We then pressure washed off the wheels and arches.

Next an application of a traffic film remover was applied to the lower sections of the bodywork (mouldings down) this was left for a short time to do its work before again pressure washing off.
The rest of the bodywork was then wetted down prior to using the 2 bucket method from the roof down – again we pressure washed off the whole vehicle.

After drying we inspected the paintwork for tar etc. after this was removed we clayed all the painted areas including the wheels and windows to remove contaminants. This was then washed off again.
Now the vehicle was ready to come into our workshop.

First job was to measure the paint depth which varied from 125 – 165 microns – plenty.

Next we masked up all required areas prior to machining. The bonnet was definitely the worst area with a lot of swirls and deep scratches. We started with a medium pad and Menzerna compound. This hardly touched the surface, so we changed to a heavy pad and had another pass. This looked much better. We then had to wet flat most of the bonnet to remove the deeper scratches and machine again. We ended up having to flat out the bonnet 4 more times to remove scratches. There were also scratches in the front wing eyebrows, nearside rear quarter and offside rear quarter, also areas on the boot lid that had been badly marked by bird droppings. All these areas were wet flatted and machined.

The pad was now changed on our mop to a medium and we started machining again, covering all painted areas. At last the paint came back to life with a good, deep shine which reflected the metal flake in the paint.

After removing the masking tape the vehicle was taken back outside for a gentle, soapy rewash to remove dust and general debris. The car was then dried with good quality soft cloths, assisted with some Last Touch.

The vehicle was allowed to dry before appling a paint cleaner, then 2 good coats of Raceglaze 55. Rimwax was used on the wheels.

Onto the interior – firstly a good hoovering (Carpets etc. were in good condition) the leather seats were gently cleaned and a good leather feed was applied. The dashboard, centre console, door cards were cleaned and dressed, also the inside of the windows. The outside windows were also cleaned and a water dispersant applied to the front and rear screens.

The car had a final inspection, inside and out. Job Finished.
