When the car arrived it looked very sorry for itself - But that's why the client brought it to us.
We started with the wheels and arches, the wheels received a good coating of a non caustic cleaner which was agitated to loosen the dirt and grime. This was then pressure washed off. Then we pressure washed the lower half of the paintwork prior to hand washing (2 bucket method) this was pressure washed off again. Next we turned our attention to the hood, this was badly affected by moss in the folds as well as the outer surfaces, there also appears to be tram lines from someone trying to clean it with a pressure washer.
The hood was washed and cleaned (by hand) prior to the whole car being re-washed to remove all the rubbish removed from the hood.
The paintwork was then clayed to remove all the attached contaminents, washed, dried and taken into our workshop.
First step was to measure the paint thickness (not very much on MX's). The car was then masked up ready for machining. As you can see in the photo's there were a lot of scratches over the whole of the bodywork, with some deep ones on the bonnet and boot. We ended up wet flatting most of the top surfaces prior to machining.
We started with Meguiars Diamond Cut and a medium pad - this was followed by some 4 Star Machine Glaze and Polish, again with a medium pad. After this we applied a coat of 4 Star Polymer Sealant.
Next, onto the hood. We removed all the fine specs found with some adhesive tape prior to brushing on the Renovo Ultra Proofer.
This was left to dry for 24 hours.
We then took the car back to the wash bay and re-washed again to remove any debris left from the machining - the car was then dried, inspected and a coat of polish applied.
