Our client bought this Jaguar X Type Sovereign from a dealer after looking for a long time for this particular specification of body and trim colour.
Unfortunately the paintwork was quite badly scratched all over, especially on the top surfaces.
We started by washing the wheels, arches and door shuts. After this we turned our attention to the bodywork, where we applied a non acidic solution to the bottom half of the car to remove the worst of the grime. This was then pressure washed off. Next the rest of the car was wetted down prior to rewashing with the 2 bucket method and pressure washing off again.
The whole of the bodywork, windows and wheels were then clayed, re-washed and dried.
The car was then taken into our workshop where it was masked up ready for machining.
Firstly we took paint thickness measurements to ensure there was enough to work with, satisfying ourselves it was ok - "out came the machine"
Because of the heavy scratching we decided on useing the Liquid Shine Range of products.
First we used their Aggressive compound together with their White Pad. This cut through the scratches reducing them quite dramatically. We spent on average 2 hours per panel at this stage. Next we moved onto their Medium compound with their Blue pad. This removed the finer scratches and we could now see some shine in the paint. Finally we used their Fine Liquid Shine Zero Swirl and Pink pad. This brought a great finish to the paint, it looked great.
Next we turned our attention to the interior, where we first hoovered out the carpet area. Next we warmed the leather seats prior to applying the Four Star Leather Cleaner which cut throught the dirt and grime leaving the seats bright and clean. After this we applied the Four Star Protectant Gel to restore the hides natural moisture balance.
Now onto the engine compartment - to be fair, it wastn't in too bad condition. It didn't need much (The dealer had already had a go) just the plastics which were treated, cleaned and dried.
The masking tape was removed and the car taken out to our wash bay for a final wash before we applied a good coat of Carnuba Wax which really brought out the colour and flec in the paintwork. The wheels were sealed and polished.
